| I had the opportunity to participate in the world's first TCK teleconference this June. I enjoyed listening to the teleconference led by Paulette Bethel, an ATCK adviser and Ruth E. Van Reken, the author of the book Third Culture Kid: The Experience of Growing Up Among Worlds. An exciting news is that there is going to be another TCK teleconference this Monday at 1pm US central time. This time the speaker will be Donna Musil, Army Brat/ATCK, writer, director and producer of Brats: Our Journey Home. You can sign up for the teleconference for free at http://tckacademy.com/class/003/. | | |
| Are you a "Third Culture Kid" or adult? Are you a parent, family member or teacher and feel like you want to learn more about this Third Culture way of life? Just about every TCK we talk to has occasional questions and some frustration when it comes to belonging, their relationships, and the Third Culture way of life.
What do you think Ruth Van Reken, co-author of Third Culture Kids: The Experience of Growing Up Among Worlds, and Paulette Bethel, an international transition coach, have discovered over their careers serving expatriate communities through various forms of trainings, on-site workshops, and writing, that can help you? Plenty. And they're ready to teach you the "7 Things Every TCK Should Know" in the first teleclass ever held for TCKs. In fact, they have so much material, they will have 90-minute classes to ensure you learn all these important life skills. In addition, there is a free mini-course by Ruth Van Reken to answer ALL of your top questions. In this teleclass, you will learn: 1. How do I sort out who I am and where I belong when I can't get past the feeling of belonging "everywhere and nowhere?" 2. How can I make and maintain friendships with non-TCKs and TCKs? 3. How do I deal with the grief I still feel from long ago losses of country and friends? 4. How do I stop restlessness, and the cycles of separation and loss I continue to create for myself because I can't seem to stay in one place more than 2-3 years? 5. How do I learn to recognize and develop fully the gifts I received from this TCK experience?
...and there is more on the site.
This is an exciting event because it's the first teleclass held for TCKs. It has never been done before. You can ask Ruth and Paulette your questions live by email or on the phone. It's like a conference but without any travel or conference fees -- you can listen to it online or on the phone.
And it's completely free!
You can get all the details about this teleclass (and a list of some of the questions they are going to be answering) at this web page:

IMPORTANT: Please check out that page right away. This is a time limited AND space limited event. There is a free mini-course after you sign-up by email - EVEN if you can't attend the event!

| i just learned that when a woman who broke an alabaster job and wiped Jesus' feet with her tears and hair is just like me!!! she was a sinner and so am i!!!
why am i so excited? cuz Jesus asked Simon, "Two men owed money to a certain money-lender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both. Now which of thm will love him more?" then Simon answered, "I suppose the one who had the bigger debt canceled." "You have judged correctly," Jesus said. and here's what's amazing. Jesus went on to say, "Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven--for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little." then then!!!! Jesus said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."
Ahhhh!! Isn't this amazing? Is it just me who finds this soooooooo relieving? omg! I am so happy right now.

| I am a wounded soldier. It is not I but Christ that lives in me that
cries out my pain and waters me with peace. The cry in my heart has
never permanently gone away and yet God has placed in me a new heart. He promises me if I trust in Him and
acknowledge Him, He will make my path straight. God still uses even the weakest of the weakest. The weaklings like me.
My hurt, my pain, my loneliness...which are only to be a useful tool
for the healing of others. I have no regrets for having been brought up as a TCK. I am being shaped to
become a more humble person to acknowledge the pain of others and to share
their joy and sorrow.
And...I tell myself that God has always been there. It does not matter
that I don't feel his presence; He has always been watching over me
and tearing up for my guilt and shame, for God is a wounded Healer. He
is love. -babymiyon

Zaleski, OH (AP)
— Sometimes it’s a hassle being Harry Potter. Especially when you’re a
78-year-old man who happens to share the name of a certain fictional
boy wizard who is famous the world over.
Each time a new Harry Potter book or movie comes out, Bradenton
resident Harry Potter starts getting phone calls from children,
interview requests from the TV networks and autograph requests.
“The kids want to know if I’m Harry Potter,” he said with a chuckle.
“I tell them I’ve been Harry Potter for darn near 80 years!”
The real Harry Potter said he hasn’t had time to read any of the
J.K. Rowling books or see the five hit movies. But late-night crank
calls aside, the retired Defense Department employee from Zaleski,
Ohio, gets his mileage out of Pottermania.
“When Harry talks to the kids, they’ll ask about the owl and he’ll
say, ‘Oh, he came by and brought the mail,’” said his wife, Jan. “Then,
when they’re done, the mothers come on and say thank you for talking to
the kids. He gets a big kick out of it.”
But meeting a real Harry Potter can be a little puzzling for the kids.
“They look at you, give you the once-over,” he said, laughing. “They
can’t relate the one in the book to the one they see here. I guess I
could buy me a pair of Harry Potter glasses.”
Shatner yelled “GET A LIFE” to his loyal fans echoes as I read this,
just because his name happens to be Harry Potter kids feel the need to
bother this poor old man?
Which brings up questions about these kids intelligence level. Harry
Potter is British, and the last time I checked, Ohio is no where near
London. | | |
